Background History...

• I’m an electrical engineer, been working in that field since about 1980.
• Previous employers include
  • University of Wisconsin-Madison Physical Sciences Laboratory (early 1980's)
  • LeCroy corporation (mid 1980's)
  • Fermilab (1989 - 2006). The view out of my last office.... (even better in the summer and fall...guess I didn't come here to get a better window view). Thanks to Mike Matulik for the photo.
• Hobbies, interests, family info
  • Happily married since 1983 to the same wonderful person.
  • One daughter, one grandson
  • I play pool, darts, bowling, golf, all the usual stuff. I’m no good at any of ‘em, but I’ll play.
  • Favorite drink: a good microbrew, preferably a Belgian Trippel.
  • Most of my free time is spent fixing up my old house. (Not quite this bad, but sometimes...)
  • I also enjoy good local musicians like Greg Boerner.

• Ethernet Electrometer
  The Ethernet Electrometer was designed for the Structural Biology Center. It is a Power-over-Ethernet device that measures low level currents. Argonne National Laboratory has applied for a patent on this device. For further information please contact Terry Maynard in the Techn Transfer office at (630)252-9771.

  • Some tests of the first prototype were taken in March 2007. The results are here. Since then the preamplifier has been reworked and performance is much improved, especially the linearity. Further tests are scheduled for February 2008.
